RACE Study Desk
A study system for technical material, with a feedback loop built in.
Overview
RACE Study Desk is a personal tool for learning from technical books, courses, papers and documentation. Each session follows the same loop: Read in the original source, Articulate the concept from memory, Check it against the source, then Exercise it. Saved concepts go into a spaced-review queue.
The first review is due after 24 hours. Successful reviews push the next one out to 3, 7, 14, then 30 days; hard or missed answers shorten the schedule.
It deliberately calls no model API and ingests no books. The coach prompt can be pasted into any chat assistant — a manual handoff, so your notes stay yours.
It is single-user and password-protected, so there is no public demo.
Key Features
- The RACE loop - Read, Articulate, Check, Exercise, one concept at a time, with its location in the source recorded
- Spaced review - Reviews first, scheduled at 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days; hard answers halve the interval, missed ones reset it
- Focus by design - Every source needs a concrete goal, and the desk defaults to two active sources at most — park the rest
- Safe saves - Optimistic versioned writes: a stale tab gets a conflict, never a silent overwrite
- Portable data - Export and import the whole desk, including notes, review history and the current draft
